Local, state and community leaders join to break ground on Cincinnati’s newest affordable housing community
Seymour Station will bring the largest influx of affordable housing units to the area in decades.
(Cincinnati, Ohio–) Mayor Aftab Pureval and other local and state officials joined representatives from LDG Development to celebrate breaking ground on the area’s newest affordable housing community—Seymour Station. The development will provide 150 units of high-quality housing and is reserved for families earning between 50-70 percent of the area median income, with annual incomes ranging between $22,900 and $78,260 (for a family of four). Located at 1931 East Seymour Avenue, in the historic Bond Hill Community, once complete, Seymour Station will stand as an example of the on-going push to reduce the estimated 43,000 units of affordable housing needed to meet the current demand.
“Quality affordable housing is essential to our City’s broader goals of growth and vibrancy in every community,” said Mayor Pureval. “The addition of developments like Seymour Station builds on the incredible momentum we’ve seen in bringing more housing options to the market to meet the needs of our neighbors.”
Situated on a 4.31 acre site that is minutes from downtown, Seymour Station will include garden and corridor style buildings that provide 1,2 and 3-bedroom apartment homes. Units will offer spacious floor plans that feature upgraded flooring and countertops, walk-in closets and other finishes that are more commonly found in market rate developments. Residents living at this development will have access to an onsite clubhouse that includes a multi-purpose community room, a business and fitness centers, and a playground area. Residents will also benefit from the community’s central location and its close proximity to area shopping and local resources like the Bond Hill Library, the Life Learning Center Head Start Program and the Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy. Monthly rents will range between $948 -$1,840, and leasing activity is expected to begin in the fall of 2026.
Construction costs for Seymour Station are estimated at nearly $30 million. Financing for this project was provided by Berkadia, The Port of Greater Cincinnati, Cincinnati Development Fund and the Ohio Housing Finance Agency—an agency focused on addressing working with cities to address the state’s growing housing crisis.
“The Ohio Housing Finance Agency is a proud financial partner of Seymour Station through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program,” said Penny Martin, director of public affairs for OHFA. “Our partnership with developers like LDG, are bringing more housing options to residents in Cincinnati and throughout Ohio.”
Seymour Station is being developed by LDG Development, one of the country’s largest developers of affordable housing with more than 26,000 units across the country. Seymour Station is the company’s first development in Cincinnati, and its third development in Ohio.
Mark Lechner, co-founder of LDG Development, says Seymour reflects the organization’s commitment to address the nation’s growing affordable housing crisis in states, like Ohio. that are projected to experience significant growth over the next several years.
“Ensuring a community has access to a variety of housing options that meet the needs of its residents is an essential component of a realistic and attainable economic development and job creation strategy,” said Lechner. “It is clear that local and state officials in Ohio understand the vital role housing plays and are focused and committed to providing housing that meets the needs Cincinnati families need and deserve.”
Seymour Station expects to welcome its first family early in 2027. For more information about this development or to receive updates about this project, please visit www.seymourstation.com
