(Sansom Park, Texas—) Local elected officials from Tarrant county joined with LDG Development to celebrate the completion of two housing communities that will provide more affordable housing options for Sansom Park seniors and families. The completion of the Sansom Ridge and Sansom Pointe brings more than $50 million investment into the area and provides 316 brand new energy efficient apartment homes for qualified residents living within the area.

“Having a variety of housing options is a key part of any city’s economic development goals,” said Jim Barnett, Mayor of Sansom Park. “The addition of Sansom Pointe and Sansom Ridge will allow our city to continue to grow and attract additional investments into the area.”

Sansom Ridge is a $19 million development that offers 100 1,2, 3 and 4-bedroom energy efficient garden style apartments for families within Sansom Park and was made possible through a partnership between LDG Development, the Development Corporation of Tarrant County, the Tarrant County Community Development, and the Tarrant County Housing Finance Corporation. Amenities offered at this community include a fitness and business centers; and a club house and pool. Units are reserved for families making 60 percent of the area’s median income or an annual income of approximately $42,000 for a family of four. Monthly rents for the range between $707-$1,069. The development welcomed its first resident in November. As of April1st the community is 92 percent leased and 81 percent occupied.

Sansom Pointe is a 216-unit development that is reserved for those 55 and older. The development offers 1 and 2- bedroom apartment homes and offers a variety of amenities designed to help seniors maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. This includes a pool and fitness center, a library and gathering areas for residents on each floor. Residents began moving into Sansom Pointe in January and monthly rents range between $743-$895.

Mark Lechner co-owner of LDG Development, says that the response and interest in Sansom Pointe and Sansom Ridge highlight the need for quality affordable housing within the area and the community’s commitment to addressing this need.

“Elected officials in Tarrant County understand the importance and benefits of providing working families and active seniors with quality affordable housing that will allow them to remain within in a community,” said Lechner. “The commitment and leadership the officials have shown to this project is a model for how the public and private sectors can work together to achieve mutually beneficial goals.”

Charlie Price, president of the Development Corporation of Tarrant County and Patricia Ward, director of the Tarrant County Community Development agree.

“As many of the major metropolitan areas in Texas continue to grow, bedroom communities like Sansom Park will increasingly become an attractive option for seniors and residents who may work in a larger city but choose to live in a neighboring area that provides less congestion and high- quality housing,” said Price.

“I believe the success Sansom Pointe and Sansom Ridge is experiencing can be replicated and will provide our city with an economic burst and produce benefits for many years to come.”
